NFTiest.com was founded in 2020 by a Web application, blockchain, and Solidity developer for the purpose of participating in the rapidly growing ecosystem of digital collectibles, unleashed by the widespread adoption of ERC-721 (Ethereum Request for Comments 721), a non-fungible token (NFT) standard. A portmanteau name, NFTiest was formed by affixing the acronym "NFT" with the comparative adjective "niftiest" meaning "smartest" to convey the notion of smartness in both the colloquial sense of "clever, shrewd, adept," and in the technical sense of "pertaining to Ethereum smart contracts."
